, rhode island. rare that you see a car going by. almost every business, city hall, everything is closed here, just like in massachusetts, the governor in connecticut also having that 4:00 ban on any cars and i wouldn't be surprised if it happens here very soon as well. i want to take you on our journey getting here. we just arrived here. it took us over five hours to get here from new york city, a trip that really shouldn't take any more than three hours. along the way, very slow going, light traffic. lots of snow plows but also some very serious accidents. we saw a jackknifed tractor-trailer that ran right into the median. we saw a huge semi that just fell off the side of the highway. we took a picture of that for you guys. that was consistent all the way up here. if you head up to maine, i want to show you some pretty dramatic video in maine. a 19-car pileup in maine. bottom line, the governor saying not a time for sightseeing, not a time for playing around. this is very, very serious. in 1978, 27 inches of snow, 26 deaths. they think this storm could be as bad or worse and we're not

marco joins us with the details. >> it happened at the fashion mall in pentagon city earlier today. you can clearly see four men wearing hoods walk into zales jewelry store. at least one suspect is armed with a hammer and begins smashing away at the glass. the others help peel it back and all four grab what they can. they made off with 27 diamond rings, estimated value $128,000. after grabbing the rings the suspects took off running for the nearest exit. it led to the top level of the parking garage where there was a get-away driver in a red sedan. they drove through a closed gate exiting onto 15th street. investigators are checking security cameras in the garage to see if they can get a better description on the car or tag numbers. >> it's pretty scary because you come to the city thinking there's security and there's security all over the mall. so that is pretty gutsy on their behalf. >> they did conceal their identities by wearing hoods and i don't know if it's masks, but they did conceal their faces. so maybe through clothes the public will be able to help us locating these individuals.

wednesday a big snowstorm in mid-march but not very often. 33 in new york city. 28 in columbus. much of our region has fallen below 33 degrees. make sure the kids are ready for a chilly morning. remember yesterday morning we were in the 40s. here is is a look at your satellite-radar and clouds increasing here. might be a little sunshine to start your day. the clouds will quickly move in. i think the shower activity will hold off until mid afternoon. probably 2:00, 3:00, it will start to move in. high temperatures expected to be in the low 40s. later tonight as the storm starts to push off the coast, it will be enough to draw enough cold air in from the north. we should see a transition start to take place north and west of washington. perhaps even washington and points to the east. thinking of you prince george's county out towards anne arundel county, you may see the transition to a little snow. here is your forecast for today. daytime highs in the low 40s with showers developing by early afternoon and again, we could see some snow tonight, perhaps some light accumulations. we'll talk more

of the school bus. >> that's right. elizabeth plan is in midland city, alabama with the very latest. good morning, what you can tell us? >> well, today is certainly a day for mourning as they lay to rest charles poland the man who protected those children. while we know the community is still waiting on baited breath for the safe return from that little boy. very little information from the sheriff's office. cancelled press conference. another one set for this morning. all eyes are on this man jimmie lee dykes. the sheriff's department tells us they are in constant communication with him. the little boy is being taken care of. meaning on this chilly morning there is heat inside of that underground bunker. is he getting coloring books and medication. as we know that bunker is stockpiled with god and other supplies. folks here really trying to stay strong. they are holding a prayer vigil every night right around 5:00 in the evening praying for that little boy. they hope he is brought home to his mother safely. listen here. >> my prayer is that there will be a miracle and that god will softe
